Daily Play

The Early Years Foundation Stage(EYFS) applies to all children from birth to the 31st August following their 5th birthday.

All providers (pre-schools, nurseries etc) and childminders are requiried to follow the statutory requirements and guidance of the EYFS and work together to support the children in their care.

The EYFS focuses on learning through play and the planning here at my setting follows this focus.

Routine

Children’s days are a relaxed and fun, balance of adult-led and child initiated activities as required by the EYFS. Each session, children choose what they want to do and I get out the resources… then for large parts of the day children have free access to the games and toys and choose their own play, with me on hand to help and support them.

When I plan activities for the children, they are always based on individual interests and, as soon as the children can contribute to the planning, their opinions are asked and their suggestions included where possible.

Activities are many and varied. During the day I have some structure because help the children to understand what’s coming next.

· Morning – we usually go out to a group or the park. We go to a variety of groups including music, dance, gym and football sessions depending on the days children attend. We have a snack while we are out;

· Lunch time – we sit together and eat, after the little ones have a rest or sleep;

· Afternoon – followed by afternoon snack, we play either inside or outside, e.g. treasure basket, painting, cutting and sticking, story time, play dough, messy play, water and sand, digging in the garden, singing and dancing etc.

 Dinner time – the children help me in the kitchen and prepare tea, set the table etc.

The setting - Pictures of the setting are coming soon..:)

There is 1 room which is used for childminding:

· The room is with access to the garden which contains toy cars, kitchen toy, easel, dolls, costumes and lots of varied fun toys;

· A reasonable size child friendly garden with swing, balance bike, tricycle, water-table and activity gym.

Children are free to move inside and outside depending on what they are doing at the time. I encourage them to choose the resources they want and to take them to the place where they feel most comfortable.

A range of toys will be introduced to stimulate their imagination and intellectual and independent development.

Children will get daily fresh air and outside play. Weather permitting we will be outside most of the day.

We will visit parks, local farm, soft play, baby and toddler groups and the local library.
